List of Awarded Creative Projects

 

September 2019, Nanmen, Digital Video, 10 minutes. Position: Cinematographer and Producer. A documentary that chronicles a Shanghainese duck restaurant owner’s struggle to retain tradition in the face of rapid Shanghai modernization and demolition. Best Documentary and Best Cinematography winner in the 2020 Orange County Film Festival. It was created as a passion project.

December 2016, Traveling LEGO, Digital Photography. Position: Photographer. An overview image of cargo containers in different colors and from various nations on a ship port platform. It symbolizes the connectedness of the world and the global economy. International winner of the 2016 National Geographic Kids Photography Award, Weird But Ture Category. It was created as a passion project. 

February 2020, Chasing Normality, Digital Video, 9 minutes. Position: Cinematographer. A documentary on the topics of youth mental health. The film includes stories from two teenagers and their struggles with their psychological health and realizations. 2020 San Francisco International Film Festival, Golden Gate Awards Official Youth Works Selections.  It was created as a passion project. 

October 2020, The Comeback, Digital Video, 10 minutes. Position: Co-writer, Director, and Cinematographer. This short film is about a musician who loses his passion for music after his mother’s passing and then rediscovers it after an interaction with a child. He carries on the child’s legacy after an unexpected event. It was created as a passion project.

July 2018, Mount Bromo, Digital Video, 4 minutes. Position: Cinematographer, Director, and Editor. From the green forest to the smoking volcano, this film uses a drone to capture the geography of Mt. Bromo, Indonesia, from a bird’s-eye view. It was created as a passion project.

January 2020, Alligator, Digital Video, 5 minutes. Position: Producer. This music video narrative was created with my class for the Orange County FilmEd 24-hour music video contest. Written, produced, and filmed in 24 hours after the release of the music. Second place in the  FilmEd 24-hour music video contest. It was created for the Film and Broadcast class, Portola High School, Irvine, California.

July 2017, Fisherman, Digital Photography. Position: Photographer. An image of a fisherman practicing traditional Myanmarese fishing technique on Inle Lake, Myanmar during sunrise. Winner, Youth Category, 2018 Siena International Photography Award

December 2016, City Commuter, Digital Photography. Position: Photographer. An image shot with slow shutter techniques captures the stillness of a businessman amid the rapid movements of other travelers in the Stockholm Central Station. It represents the confusion and turmoil of surviving in a big city. This image was the silver awardees of the 2016 Canon Photo Album. It was created as a passion project.

December 2016, Buddy, Digital Photography. Position: Photographer. A black and white portrait captured a cozy moment when a groom was brushing his horse, who had comfortably closed its eyes. Commended for “Youth Portrait” at the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards. It was created as a passion project.
